DV Choice Editor.

Preview-first Dataverse choice management inside VS Code. Built for local and global choices, reusable definition artifacts, usage inspection, and explicit publish workflows.

What it is

DV Choice Editor is a focused DV ForgeLab utility for managing Dataverse local entity choice columns and global choices. It supports browsing choice targets, viewing existing values, adding new values, updating labels, deleting values, and previewing metadata changes before publishing.

Why it exists

Choice values are small pieces of metadata with large operational consequences. A label change, deleted value, or inconsistent option set can affect forms, views, automations, and user behaviour. DV Choice Editor keeps the workflow visible and deliberate.

Key capabilities

Choice management

Browse local choice columns and global choices, view values, create values, update labels, delete values, and review pending staged changes.

Usage inspection

Inspect potential references across forms, views, personal views, and processes before changing a selected local choice column.

Definition artifacts

Export local or global choice definitions as .dvce.json artifacts and import compatible definitions into DV Choice Editor for preview-first reconstruction workflows.

Environment awareness

Use shared DV ForgeLab environment settings and visual environment cues for DEV, TEST, and PROD style environments.

Artifact interoperability

DV Choice Editor supports portable .dvce.json definition artifacts for local and global choices. Artifacts preserve operational intent while keeping investigation and reconstruction separate concerns.

Future DV ForgeLab ecosystem integrations may generate compatible definition artifacts while preserving clear product ownership and preview-first workflows.

Preview-first boundary

All metadata changes are staged locally before apply. DV Choice Editor focuses on Dataverse choice management through preview-first workflows and reusable definition artifacts.
